Anne Ebeling: Don't let that baby bump hold you down. It's good to get some exercise while pregnant. To help you stay active in style, I headed to Destination Maternity's Learning Studio, where a Learning Studio Manager Jessica Outlaw teaches pre-natal yoga classes several times a week. Jessica Outlaw: We are assisting mom during her pregnancy to feel more comfortable and confident in her body and also preparing her for labor and delivery and hopefully a shorter recover period after that. Anne Ebeling: Jessica has teamed up with Maternity Style Expert to show up some great moves for moms to be and some fun fashions to wear for your workout. Jessica Outlaw: Take your feet wide on your mats. You're going to turn out your right leg, turn in your back toes, inhale, your arms up to frame your head and then you're going to bend your right leg. Good. Yep! And then just take your gaze over your right fingers. Good, so breathing comfortably, inhale through your nose. Exhale through your nose or your mouth, inhale, straighten through your right leg. You're going to tilt your pelvis and put your hand on your chin, turn your chest to the sky, reach your feet into the earth come back up, stand up, good. Bend the leg again, warrior, and straight up from your shoulders Amy. Palm up, tip it back peaceful warrior. Female Speaker: Pebbe is wearing an outfit from our Pea in the Pod collection department. This is actually from splendid, a designer that we have seen in many stores and we carry it hear at Destination Maternity as well. This is a 100% cotton, it has the great pocket detail on the side which makes it great for lounging or for active wear and the hood is also lined in a cotton. The striped detail is fun and it also has a little rousing in the front makes it very fashionable. Jessica Outlaw: Inhale take the arms up, interlace your fingers, inward your palms. Good again, relax your shoulders, and the really think about lifting from your ribcage making more space for that baby. Good. Inhale, exhale again, really feel like you are holding up the ceiling with those palms. And then go and drop your right fingers to the floor, take a side bend, breathing into their sides seems of your torso, making more space in your body. Good, inhale, come up to the center and take your side bent over to the left. Good, turning the chest towards the sky, inhale back up through center interlace your fingers again inward your palms. Good. Backstroke your hands behind you, interlace your fingers and lift your arms strap opening the chest. So the upper chest muscles tend to get tightened and shortened as the shoulders roll forward with the weight gain in the breast, so chest opening is really important during pregnancy. Female Speaker: Amy is wearing a yoga set from our Pea in the Pod area and this is a cotton with a tiny bit of Lycra for stretch. It's very comfortable for yoga or just for lounge wear, but and the green is just the color of the season with the striped detail. This is one of our best sellers this season, so maybe can you take the jacket off Amy? And has a great detail, that little rousing at the neckline is very stylish. Jessica Outlaw: Alright, so we're going to come into table pose so the hands are under the shoulders and knees are under the hips. Walk your knees a little more forward. There you go. Curl your toes under, during pregnancy, pointing to the feet can leave you into cramping. So we're going to begin with some cat and cow stretches to invigorate the spine, make it stronger, more flexible. We're going to start your inhale and you're going to lift your sitting bones. Relax the belly to the floor, roll the shoulders back, open the chest, lift the gaze, press down all your knuckles, out your fingers start your exhale drop your tail bone lift the sides of your waist, dome your back and let your head drop. Cat pose, really great stretch for the back body. And then breathing in, coming back to cow, sink the spine, lift the gags, open the chest. Breathing out come back to cat. Good. Female Speaker: Shafina is wearing yoga wear from our Pea in the Pod collection assortment and this is a by a Designer called Poems & Prayers. It is very comfortable it's a cotton stretch fabric that is just terrific for practicing yoga. It has a little detail there of a little footprint and then if you turnaround Shafina it just has a great little thing on the back. Anne Ebeling: If you're doing a high impact workout while pregnant, you're going to be the supportive sports bra to keep your growing chest in place. Try this one from Lululemon called the Ta Ta Tamer which is designed to do just that, or Champion also makes a variety of sports bra's ranging from medium to maximum support. Whatever workout you choose to do while pregnant make sure to check with your doctor first then feel free to sweat in style.
