Florida Woman Calls 911 From Back of Squad Car - as part of the news series by GeoBeats. Some people have a hard time understanding that 911 is for emergencies only. A 24-year-old woman from Sanford, Florida was recently arrested for abusing the emergency line, after calling three times in an eight hour period. The female, Danielle Edwards allegedly called 911 around 6 P.M. on a Monday to request that a police car give her a ride to a shelter for battered women. After an officer took her to the shelter, she reportedly called the emergency line 6 hours later from a local club, telling the operator that her boyfriend was at her house. When questioned as to why she left the shelter, she apparently responded she wanted to “drink with friends”. While on the way to the shelter for the second time, Edwards supposedly called 911 from the patrol car to ask the location of her boyfriend, prompting the officer to arrest her for abusing the system. In another case of abusing the system, a Georgia woman, Tonya Fowler was arrested after she called 911 to convey her displeasure with the way her mugshot appeared in a publication from a prior arrest.
