Antidepressants can work even if you’re not depressed. Even if you have a couple of weeks in the month where you are feeling great, antidepressants work because they seem to buffer the brain hormones against the effect of those falling female hormones. So they’re in place to keep those brain hormones stable and that then prevents the mood problems.
