Diane: Hi! My name is Diane, I live in Dayton, Ohio, and my question is what would be a good age to let my teenage daughter start to date? Shari Barkin: Diane, thanks for your question. Dating is complicated, I think what I recommend is I recommend you sit down with your teenager and you ask them what is dating mean to you, because it's defined differently by many children. For some children it's just going to the movies and spending time with them, talking with them on the phone, and for other children, it might be much more advanced than we'd like them to be. So, I would recommend, starting with sitting down and having a heart-to-heart and talking what dating is, and what respectful relationships are.
