Dr. William McCarthy: There are two basic types of exercises, there is aerobic or cardiovascular exercise which consist a primarily getting the heart rate up, this is like walking or jogging, swimming. This is very important, not only for once general health but it also assisting and losing weight. The second kind of exercise is the anaerobic or resistance type of exercise. This may be consist of using machines or possibly some weight lifting or using bands. This is also important in maintaining muscle tone, maintaining general health. And also preventing muscle lose and lean body lose during active weight lose. So both types of exercise are extremely important when trying to lose weight.
