Description
Dr. LeBlang introduces herself and explains what a magnetic resonance (MR) guided focused ultrasound for fibroids is (a new noninvasive therapy that has been proven to be both safe and efficacious in the treatment of fibroids).

My name is Dr. Suzanne LeBlang. I’m a Neuroradiologist specializing in the head and neck on MRI images. And I also perform MRI guided focused ultrasound procedures. The MRI guided focused ultrasound procedure is a non-invasive procedure. Meaning there’s no cutting of the skin, no general anesthesia necessary. The MRI portions stands for MRI imaging. So the MRI imaging is the best way we can have looking at the inside of the body in the anatomy of what your fibrates look like in the pelvis. They focus ultrasound part which is the fast part of MRG FQS, stands for Focused Ultrasound. And that’s where we take a normal ultrasound beam and guide it into the fibrate to generate enough heat inside the fibrate to kill the tumor.
