What is Me en Place Me en Place, literally translated from French means setting in place which just means to have all of your ingredients diced, sliced or ready before you start. Today, it is used a bit more loosely and that it often means just gathering all of your ingredients and setting yourself up. Me en Place is more than just a culinary term for preparation. It is also a state of mind. Say you are cooking multiple dishes and you need to place in all three, chopping off the shallots at once will save you time. Also, when making a dish or a sauce where time is critical, have your ingredients ready and in order of use and the result will be much smoother. Basically, Me en Place is about being organized and ready to take on the task at hand. Transcribed by Tech-Synergy Page 1 of 1
