What Is a High Risk Pregnancy High risk pregnancy can be a lot of different things, if a woman has a disease before she becomes pregnant such as high blood pressure or diabetes that puts her in the category of a high risk pregnancy. If a problem develops during a pregnancy, in an otherwise healthy woman such as diabetes that becomes a high risk pregnancy. And sometimes pregnancies are high risks because of problems with the fetus such as abnormalities of the amniotic fluid, fetal growth or anomaly that you might have on ultrasound.
