Dr. Lazarus shares what effect a low TSH in a pregnant woman can have on her baby.
EmpowHer Asks: What effect could low thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)in a pregnant woman have on her baby? Professor John Lazarus MD FRCP FACE Professor Clinical Endocrinology A low TSH won’t have too many effects unless the pregnant woman is hyperthyroid i.e. an overactive thyroid in that case there is a danger of miscarriage and problems, obstetrics problems but a low TSH in early pregnancy is quite common and does not signify anything terrible. Its more important to worry about a high TSH in early pregnancy.
