(Image source: The Inquisitr ) BY CHRISTINA HARTMAN Despite headlines hyping Walmart worker strikes on Black Friday, the mega-retail giant is claiming its best Black Friday ever. AL JAZEERA : “The workers are protesting against low wages and the lack of benefits. A Walmart spokesman then says he doesn't believe the strike will amount to much.” And it didn’t, at least to the company’s bottom line. USA Today is reporting — Walmarts across the country rang up 10 million transactions between 8pm Thursday through midnight — that’s 5,000 items per second. But Walmart had made a few preemptive strikes. WALMART AD : “We guarantee our low prices. Even our Black Friday prices are backed by ad match. The first and only place to go this Black Friday.” CNBC : “Walmart started at 8:00 and the most important thing is they guarantee in stock on must-have items for an hour. That's a big deal.” A union-backed group helped organized the first retail strike in Walmart’s 50-year company history. But the number of participating employees is unclear — with Walmart itself claiming less than 50 actual employees have participated — with the rest of protesters being union activists.
