Visit Minneapolis/St. Paul in Minnesota Jim Watt: Downstream on the Mississippi the twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul make up the largest urban community in the state. The capital is in Saint Paul, first named “Pig's Eye” after French-Canadian whisky runner, pig’s eye pump before you settle to St. Paul. Minneapolis is a magnificent modern architectural delight with dozens of sky bridges between buildings to shelter the local citizen ring from the highest conditions of the cities most remarkable winners. For those tricky events it was here in Minneapolis. The first automatic puppet toaster was created in 1926 marketed as the toast master. Near the Minneapolis Airport a shopping venue of world class proportions. Dan Jasper: You are in a very special place here at the beautiful Mall of America located in Bloomington, Minnesota which is part of the twin city’s area and the mall is very special. We have been open since 1992 and we’re the largest entertainment and retailed destination in the United States. In fact we draw more than 43 million visitors every year which is absolutely amazing and we have the largest indoor amusement park, family amusement park. It’s seven acres and marketed them away as roller coasters and a log flown and kid’s rides and stage shows and pretty much anything you’d want to see and with the large facility. It’s 4.2 million square feet large. More than 520 world class shops and restaurants so it’s a great destination for people to come and visit. Actually this is the largest tourist destination in Minnesota and in fact we attract more visitors every year than Disney World, the Grand Canyon and Graceland combined. So what most people don’t realize a lot of people come here and not only we checked a lot of people from Minnesota and from our nine state region but also tons of international guests come to visit us. Our biggest international visitors are from Canada, our good neighbors to the north. And also we have a lot of visitors from Europe, Germany, Scandinavian countries, Britain as well as Asia, Japan primarily then China as well. They come because it’s unique and it’s very American. As a matter of fact this week we have a group from Britain coming and a group from France coming and a group of Austria and they’re coming to visit the Mall of America because it’s America. It’s kind of a symbol for what our country is. It’s big, it’s grand, it celebrates the American way of life and it’s a fun place to go. One of the things that is great about Mall of America too is the convenience and the location. We’re actually about two miles from the Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport and our new Light Rail Train Transit System runs from the airport through to the Mall of America right into our basement actually. So we have a lot of visitors who might have a lay over at the airport for three or four hours then they’ll hop on the LRT train, come over the Mall of America. You’ll see them walking around with their suit cases on wheels, sightseeing, buying things and then getting back in time to make their flights. So it’s a great layover status low. Some of the other unique things about Mall of America, the people don’t know many people are that way of a wedding chapel. We have thousands of weddings performed here. We have a high school. We have a college on site. We have the world’s largest underground aquarium, Underwater Adventures Aquarium and they currently have the largest collection of sharks in captivity in the entire world. So there’s a lot of big and world’s largest here at the Mall of America.
