Visit Tantillo’s Fruit Market in Hudson Valley New-York Bennett Watt: The balance of New York State is like stepping on to another planet. The Hudson Valley is from where the big apple claimed its name, thousands of acres of apple orchards. Rafaela Tantillo big apple is her apple pie Raffaela. Tantillo: On the harvest plants it grew up to 90 a day. So I make it a way my grandmother and my mother made it. It’s just the basic Frisco, its Frisco flower and a little bit of salt and water the whole together and you have to put it a lot. Just until it’s mixed, I’ll get 4 by 4 regular pies out of this. I started to make them pies when I was 13, I was bored, and I have been bored since. So my grandmother used to make them on the stand here, my moms mom and I just use to work along side to here and then one day I was bored and I’m going to used to be a UPS driver tasted it and then asked me to make him one and it’s been from there, you know sort them with a fact or you don’t get enough on your pie when you’re done to make it done. Bennett Watt: Four generations at Tantillo’s at the family farm and fruit stand here in Gardner since 1932 here family have owned and operated this grass fruit business providing wholesome home grown quality. June through October the farm is vast land and picks your own cherries, tomatoes, peaches, pears, apples and pumpkins. It offered complete selection of farm fresh and local fruits including all the homemade extras. Raffaela. Tantillo: Here is the big apple. Bennett Watt: Just half the road Die Pflaz one of the original Huguenot settlements in the region. Kevin VanKleeck: This is the first part of the village that was found in 1678 and it’s important because it’s an interesting aspect of the architecture of the houses, the stone houses and on the street you have over 300 years of pastry of Europeans but also this is within up to 5 to 6000 years by need of Americans as well. I’m given a street we have various houses of different time birds and a few colonial houses of the early 1700 we have an 1820 house and built in 1799 and has the 1820 furnishing and we have a 1915 house and renovated in 1894 and actually starts as a two rooms stone house and turns into an 1894 grand queen and stylish in different rooms or for more and so they change a little bit and they kept the stone house attributes and so it gives people a look where they can start of in the 1700 house or an 1800’s house and finish in 1900 and they could see how life has changed on Huguenot street.
