Visit Providence in Rhode Island The capital of Rhode Island, Providence is one of those cities that can capture a visitor’s heart and soul. If you look at civic pride in the dictionary, a picture of Providence might appear in the definition. Once described by a newspaper in the region as the dirty smudge on the fast lane between the Boston and New York, an amazing transformation has occurred and they’re not finished yet. In downtown Providence, rivers once covered by a massive slab of concrete are now open.
