One market in particular is quite amazing, considering it has been held annually for more than 400 years.Located in Strasbourg, it is referred to as the oldest Christmas market in France. The market was founded in 1570 and according to the local tourism website, "Young and old can stroll from chalet to chalet, enjoying the spice bread, bretzels, confectionery, pastries and mulled wine.” The beautiful event also offers Christmas trees for sale, tinsels and other seasonal décor. Concerts and other exhibits are also held. Known as one of the world’s most famous Christmas Markets, it is located very close to the city’s majestic cathedral. There are areas for produce, wine and even an Alsatian food market. The Dresden Christmas Market in Germany is another long running event. It began way back in 1434 and it is Germany’s oldest Christmas Market.It is well known for indigo-dyed printed textiles, pottery and blown glass Christmas decorations from surrounding regions. According to the market's organizers "The focal point is the world's tallest Christmas pyramid, with a height of 14 meters and the world's biggest nut cracker.”
