Male: This mistake comes in all shapes and sizes, using the wrong sized pots. Shirley Bovshow: One of the big problems of beginner gardeners have is that they choose the wrong sized pot for their plant. William Moss: There would be a massive pot and they’ll put in like one little – it just doesn’t work. It stresses the plant out and it just looks precious. Shirley Bovshow: When you put a plant in a pot that’s too large for it, it is not secure. It can shift, it can go down into the pot, it can get too much water or dry out too fast. Carmen de la Paz: You want to always start bigger when you get the plant in. Allow it to grow into its pot and then later on, remember, you’re going to have to repot it. Shirley Bovshow: A lot of the problems with potted plant death is that they are repotted too often and the plants do not have time to acclimate to their pots. Dawson Connor: You can tell almost immediately when a plant is getting too big for its pot because it sends out little roots at the bottom. Shirley Bovshow: When selecting the right pot for your plant, make sure that it’s one size bigger than the pot that it’s in and then repot is needed and then really give your plants a time to enjoy their home. Male: So remember, don’t use the wrong sized pots but do make sure to repot when necessary.
