George: Hi! I am George from Austin, Texas. I was wondering if watching TV before bed affects your sleep. Dr. Mangala Narasimhan: George, watching TV in bed affects some people's sleep. Some people can do fine and watch TV and go to sleep like maybe with no problems, but other people, the TV is stimulating and they can't fall asleep at night. It also promotes bad sleep hygiene and people are forced to do other things in their bed besides fall asleep. So, what I would say is that if you are having trouble falling asleep and you have problems with Insomnia, to get the TV out of the bed room. If you're not having any problems and you're able to go to sleep when you to want to and wake up when you want to, then go ahead and watch TV. So, really it's very dependent on your life and your sleep problems.
