Tropical Prints, Pink, and Feathers at Paris Fashion Week Allison: Now that Paris Fashion Week has come to a close, we rounded up our favorite trends that immerge from the city of lights. Designers showed off tropical prints, punches of pink, and feathers galore, I’m Allison and you’re watching FabFlash. For spring, designers are taking us on a tropical vacation. Christian Dior used Hawaiian print tops and crochet skirts. Vanesa Bruno paired wild printed on print florals and blouses with printed shorts. For Nina Ricci and -- who had a softer approach with painterly separates and sheer floral tops. Pink stood out as the must have cue for next season. Lanvin, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, The Row and Sonia Rykiel all showed pops of pink for Spring and our favorite pieces came for Isabel Moran who showed off everything from pink crop pants to blouses where especially loving head to toe pink on sandals. Feathers were updated for Spring, Sarah Burton’s first collection for Alexander McQueen showed off intricate feather gowns and this one made entirely out of butterfly wings. The standouts were three highlights from Chanel, a blush feather gown, delicately feathered shoulders and hemlines and one from Zac Posen a dramatic dress with plum covered heads. Minimalism continues with streamline silhouettes, men’s wear inspired suiting, boxy cuts and monochromatic ensembles. These looks were made new with pretty pleats, 60’s more dresses, plunging necklines and sleeveless blazers, while so keeping it simple. For accessories, give your five inch heels a break and opt comfy flats made chic at Lanvin and Chloe and toughened it up with punky boots at Balenciaga. And did you still want a little left, try out spring’s flat platform shoe as seen on Chanel. Meanwhile back in New York, we spoke with Ralph Lauren’s son David Lauren about the Pink Pony auction anniversary challenge and today friends take on trends plus find out how you can get your hands on a look straight from the runway. David Lauren: Ralph Lauren started Pink Pony about 10 years ago. This is our 10th anniversary. The idea really is to inspire awareness and raise funds for a very important cause which is cancer. And then what we’ve done is we’ve given people around the world unique access to go behind the scenes and the world of Ralph Lauren as well as to meet amazing friends of our company. You can have lunch with Martha Stewart, go biking with Lance Armstrong, gig on a signed guitar from Taylor Swift or Sheryl Crow, go and sit in front row at a basketball game with Lebron James and he’ll sign anything you want; so amazing people and personalities. Allison: Other possible wins include a stay at Ralph Lauren’s Round Hill villa in Jamaica, going back stage at Project Runway or my favorite a chance to own Hale Berry’s Ralph Lauren gown. David Lauren: And actually at the Ralph Lauren charity auction we can now bid on an amazing opportunity to seat front row meet Ralph Lauren and pick the favorite outfit that you want off the runway and take it home. Now I’m just start of bidding myself on a few different things, I can’t tell you but you might bid against me. Allison: David also tells us why the brand always been able to stay out of the curve. David Lauren: For us it’s not about following trend it’s by creating them. Allison: I’m Allison and thanks for watching FabFlash.
