Trifon: Hi! My name is Trifon. I am from Denver, Colorado, I am 29 years old and I was wondering how they use magnets to help treat pain? Richard Lord: Trifon, that's an excellent question about treating pain. Magnets are used to treat pain by placing the magnets over the area that is hurting. The studies that have been done thus far, have shown that the magnets can help diabetic foot pain. However, looking at low back pain and osteoarthritis, magnets don't appear to help as much, and there are probably some other methods that maybe better such as acupuncture, or massage if you are interested in alternative techniques. I would encourage you to talk to your physician about options for treating your pain at this point.
