What are the major requirements for conventional publishers? Essentially, the major requirement is having a literary agent. So, you’re going to need a literary agent to represent you if you’re looking to get your work published at no cost to you by a conventional publisher. You might ask the question, “Where do I find the literary agent?” If you live in New York, it’s not too hard. That’s where most of the literary agents in the country are but if you don’t live in New York, you could go to an internet search engine like Google, type in literary agents and see what results you might get for the city or area in which you reside. You can also look for literary agents in the yellow pages at the telephone book. But forewarned, most of the agents are in the major metropolitan areas with the majority of those agents being in New York City and that area.
