The Differences between Sweet and Dry Wines William: Hi! I’m William from Colchester, Vermont. What is it mean when a wine is sweet or dry? John Bandman: That is a good question William. The difference between a dry and a sweet wine is a sweet wine that is a wine that is very fruity and when you sip it, it’s more of a wine that you would sipping as suppose to drinking. That’s how we would define a sweet wine whereas any wine that can be more easily drank would be a dry wine. And most of the dinner wines that people drink are considered dry wines. Understand that dry wines can be range anywhere from citrus-y all the way to fruity and fruity could mean tropical fruits, more citrus fruits, or tree fruits like apples and pears. But a sweet wine again is one that you would more like to be sipping as either a desert wine or a wine that would either be serve with the desert or sometimes even with a rich heavy foods like duck foie gras classically is paired with the Saturn. So, it turns as sweet wine and that would the irregularity of when a sweet wine can be paired with dinner.
