Laurie: My name is Laurie and I'm from Colorado. And I want switch my baby to solid food, but I want to know the dangers of switching, maybe be over too soon. Angelika Rampal: Hi, Laurie. So the dangers of switching your baby to solid food too soon. That’s a great question. The things that you need to be looking out for before starting your baby–it’s very simply. You just want to make sure your baby is ready to start solids. So what does that mean? Is your baby able to hold his head up? Is your baby able to sit in a high chair or in a sitting position where you can feed him? And does he stops sticking his tongue out every time you put a spoon near his mouth? So as long as you can answer those questions and your baby is ready, interested in food, able to hold his head up and will take the food that you offer via spoon, now is the time to start. We usually say about six months of age.
