The Addams Family on Broadway Audra Lowe: Rolled out for the opening night of the Addams Family on Broadway, and of course Lauren Ezersky chatted with every single celeb out there so, the question is after you see this, do you think that she’s related to the Addams? Tony Roberts: I’m excited because I love Nathan Lane and I love Jackie Hoffman and I’m rutting for them and I’m looking forward to a great time. Lauren Ezersky: It’s Hoda and Kathie. Kathie: Oh my Gosh. Hoda: I love your outfit the whole thing. Kathie: Look at you, you’re not dressing up. Lauren Ezersky: You’re the fashion girls, thank you, I’m looking good today. Thank you. Kathie: That’s very savvy chick. Lauren Ezersky: It is. You see these girls have taste and style Hoda: We understand you. Lauren Ezersky: This is some of the most talented people in all of Broadway but then they brought in Jerry Zaks to lighten it up after it’s run in Chicago and make it a little funnier. How did you change this from the original? Jerry Zacks: Hundreds and hundreds of little ways darling, new songs, new scenes, new performances, everything different. Lauren Ezersky: I grabbled you are so fabulous, Elaine Stritch we love you. Elaine Stritch: Thank you very much, who did your make up? Lauren Ezersky: I do it. Ten minutes sister. Elaine Stritch: Call me. Lauren Ezersky: who are you wearing tonight? Hoda: I don’t know. Lauren Ezersky: Whose is that? Kathie: Let me see. Hoda: What are you doing back there? Kathie: What is that? Lauren Ezersky: Klassi. It’s French, it’s not torjeae, no, no, and it’s French, Klassi. Male: Excuse me Lauren. Lauren Ezersky: I love it. Famous people know each other. Why do you think every celebrity now is going to Broadway? They are all doing Broadway plays. Mathew Broderick: I think it’s a good thing, it shows that it is an important place you know and it’s worth, I think it’s good, well it’s great. Victor Garble: Exactly, as long as we’re still in the running. Lauren Ezersky: He promised that he would come back and he’s coming back. Thank you. This is so sweet. Hugh Jackman: I was going to blow you off but sure you said now you promise. Lauren Ezersky: Thank you. So how did you guys hooked up? Female: Well, it’s kind of a long story. I may need just 10-17 and I have a rare sort of tissue cancer and I was going to wish to make Hugh Jackman and it came true. Hugh Jackman: And there’s nothing like a Broadway musical opening, particularly a big Broadway musical, I mean they pulled all the stuffs out an amazing casts, sets, music. I’m expecting the full Broadway shazam. Lauren Ezersky: You got some energy left for me? Nathan Lane: Yup Okay, obviously you do. What up? Lauren Ezersky: How did you make this part your own? -- Because so many people identify with the TV show? Nathan Lane: Well you know, first it was written, it’s written by different people, who wrote and then who wrote the TV show and the movies. It’s where I’m a different looking person than others who have played it. So it immediately becomes a different kind of character. Lauren Ezersky: I think if the Addams Family lived next door to me, I would totally love them as neighbors. Nathan Lane: That’s right; just don’t go there for dinner. Lauren Ezersky: What will you be eating if you’re going there for dinner? Nathan Lane: Well, I don’t react probably, defrosted Yak. Lauren Ezersky: We met in the Hamptons, you remember? Jackie Hoffman: That’s right. I love her, I love that she’s reflects as 60’s druggie that she’s potion crazy. Lauren Ezersky: You are getting married in this. You have a boyfriend? Krysta Rodriguez: I do, I have a boy friend who is normal. Whatever that means. Lauren Ezersky: How was working with Nathan and Bebe. Wesley Taylor: You know, Nathan Takes me out to dinner, Bebe, was over my apartment, I’m 23 years old. I have a studio apartment. It’s so small, I’m like Bebe, remember your beginnings. Okay, when you come over to my house, remember your beginnings. Bebe: I love Mortisha when I was a little girl in the 60’s and watched it with Caroline Jones and then I came to know the cartoons when I was a teenager and I love the cartoons and Marshall Brickman called me up one day and said, we wrote a musical of the Addams Family, Rick Elise, we want you to play Mortisha and that’s a great phone call to get.
