Tech Shell Mac Book Case Review Ben Freedman: So, I unlocked my iPhone, so I could take it out to Canada and use it there. I also put a couple of extra locations on. Then Apple came out with their firmware update and now my iPhone is at break. But it’s still really, really useful. If you need to prompt a door open when you’re carrying heavy objects, you can do that. If you want to engage in a friendly game of street hockey, that’s a great idea or if you need to repel an oppressive foreign military, Apples got you covered. Yes, the iPhone—it’s amazingly useful. Oh, yeah, yeah, right there that’s a good scratch, right there. Oh, yeah that’s a good scratch. Tiffany Young: Hi, there and welcome to Neo-Fight.TV the technology for not so geeky, my name is Tiffany Young. Ben Freedman: And I'm Ben Freedman, you love doing that. And today on the show you know what—we’ve reviewed a lot of bags and cases on the show. Tiffany Young: We have seen bags, bags and more bags. But we loved to review the bags. Ben Freedman: We love to review bags and a lot of people have said to us, you know, all the bags you’ve review—most of them they're pretty geeky. I mean, okay, so you view an IT guy. She says that over geeky, there are these geeky bags you know they're not very fashionable. Tiffany Young: How many pins do you need you know, why do I have two iPod pockets I mean, anyway— Ben Freedman: So were going to look at some bags today, some for girls and some for guys, which by the way, I’d like to mention that is only my opinion that some are for girls and some are for guys, maybe some of the guy wants you'll find girly some of the girl want you'll find guyly, guyish, guy like. Tiffany Young: Manly— Ben Freedman: Guy like—for guys. Tiffany Young: Manly and womanly. Ben Freedman: But were going to look at some that more fashionable, I think more of the fashion statement than necessarily, you know, geek. Tiffany Young: So it was like, it’s like— Ben Freedman: Like when we reviewed that one from RotoWire that had like 8,000 pockets, you're like, “Why do I need 8,000 pockets?” Tiffany Young: Well, I just won't find anything I mean I’ll loose it. So these are the bags for the not so geeky. Ben Freedman: These are the bags for the not so geeky. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: Okay, so here we are nice little iMac or excuse me a MacBook, iMac. Tiffany Young: MacBook. Ben Freedman: MacBook and the first one that we’re going to look at today is this shell from Tech Shell, not really a case it’s a—it’s designed to make your computer more fashionable by changing its color. Tiffany Young: Right, in an individual. Ben Freedman: Right. Tiffany Young: And— Ben Freedman: So you're feeling a little blue today. So these are—again like you say, ways of differentiating your case. What you do is you take these very, very easily, stick this in here like so. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: Stick this in here, like there is in the back—and boom, its just that simple, now you’ve got— Tiffany Young: I think it’s on the back part. Ben Freedman: Well that’s okay. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: No, it’s on perfectly. But that’s—it’s very easy to put on and now you’ve got a changed color. Tiffany Young: You got a blue Mac. Ben Freedman: You’ve got a blue Mac. Tiffany Young: Yeah. Ben Freedman: So you're now, you're now no longer look like a Mac when you go to Mac World Expo you don’t, you know, your Mac doesn’t blend in with everyone else’s Mac. Tiffany Young: In case you were to walk away and not identify it when you walk, you came back, right? Ben Freedman: That’s right. This is great for— Tiffany Young: It’s a blue Mac I swear. I would recommend it. Ben Freedman: Obviously, this is great for going inside another bag, you know, and that way—and if you're worried, you know, you have your keys in the bag or whatever, its going to rub against this, its not going to rub against iMac. Tiffany Young: Now, do you notice that I know on the iPod cases that I use, you know, this occasionally for iPod. Ben Freedman: Sure. Tiffany Young: They scratch up really easy. Ben Freedman: Yeah. Tiffany Young: And then you just have to replace them every three to four months. Ben Freedman: I guess so, this ones a little pricy for what it is, it’s about $70.00 for these two pieces of plastic but they do fit beautifully costumed. Tiffany Young: Right, they do. Ben Freedman: And there are—they do seem to be nicely styled Tiffany Young: It’s perfectly long in the side with the little ports Ben Freedman: You’ve got all your ports in there and— Tiffany Young: And you make them for all different kind of computers— Ben Freedman: Well, no—mostly for the Macs. And so this is kind of a Tech Shell. This is Mac, pretty awesome to make for the bigger one, the bigger Mac and the smaller MacBooks. Tiffany Young: In all different colors obviously. Ben Freedman: All different colors under the rainbow. So, there is from Tech Shell, if you want a green one, they have green, they have orange, and all kinds of very cool colors for your MacBook. Tiffany Young: United Colors. Ben Freedman: Yeah, so again and that was new, blue is kind of like dye color. I don’t, maybe they have pink—I don’t know for that set. Tiffany Young: Oh, they probably do, I would imagine. Ben Freedman: Now here is, this next one, I think is the ultimate guide messenger bag, okay. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: Are you ready for this? Tiffany Young: I'm ready. Ben Freedman: Boom, check out that bad boy, okay. Tiffany Young: It is very manly. Ben Freedman: This is the Oakley S.I. Computer Bag. Tiffany Young: Oh, yeah. Ben Freedman: Remember Oakley. Tiffany Young: Yes, I've got the luggage. Ben Freedman: You’ve got the luggage. Tiffany Young: I do. Ben Freedman: And you'll notice, I mean, to me check out these—I don’t know if you can see them, they’ve got these like of aviation type things, where you can pull this to do like. This is like the parachute quick release. Tiffany Young: They really are I mean they're just bearing masculine. Ben Freedman: Big chunks of metal it’s not a light case. It’s a fairly heavy case, just the case itself. Tiffany Young: Right, because it’s so manly. But you're so manly it’s no problem carrying it. Ben Freedman: All right, that’s right. What are you a girly man? You can lift up your case? Come on. Again you got to pull this tags to undo these, three pockets along the front here, with belt pro and then inside you’ve got your pouch. Tiffany Young: Yes. Ben Freedman: For your computer and then you’ve got another pocket in the front here that has you know all of your—well, you know—what you call it? Tiffany Young: Files— Ben Freedman: Files, pens, business cards and other cool other pockets in there Tiffany Young: Yeah. Ben Freedman: But I mean that is— Tiffany Young: A really nice style. Ben Freedman: It’s a nice big manly case. You’ve got one pocket on the back there. Tiffany Young: I always use these, these are always a big plus for me except always reaching in and find something quickly. Ben Freedman: And you can actually unzip the bottom one as well. This becomes a pass through. I think, yeah, pass through. So if you want to put it on your trolley, you know, when you're going to the airport. Tiffany Young: Oh, yeah. Ben Freedman: You can put that over the handle of your roller-on, your carry-on. Tiffany Young: Yeah, that’s very nice. Oakley makes a good design bag. Ben Freedman: That is, not that cheap $175.00 but its Oakley right. Tiffany Young: Yeah, the luggage was expensive too. Ben Freedman: Yeah, but I think it was a very nice and very— Tiffany Young: The colors are nice— Ben Freedman: It’s very masculine and it comes with couple other colors, it comes like in khaki shade as well—masculine, manly bag. Tiffany Young: Manly bag, and you know it’s different than everybody else’s, so you don’t— Ben Freedman: Right. Tiffany Young: Get confused or something like that. Our luggage for example when it comes up apart we— Ben Freedman: And you would know it’s yours. Tiffany Young: It’s got a separate little bag on the front of it which is different. Ben Freedman: Next up is from a company called MobileJuice. Tiffany Young: Ah, MobileJuice. Ben Freedman: This is the Mac Urban Backpack, it’s always called Mac Urban. The Mac Urban Backpack, it says Mac but I mean of course you can use it for a Mac or any laptop that’s in that range. This is one of my favorite backpacks and I like that—first of all it’s a silvery gray color, very manly. Tiffany Young: Yes. But it’s not too big though. Ben Freedman: Not too big. Pop, I like this. You can pop-open the top and there is your computer compartment in there. Tiffany Young: Yes, yet your safety orange. Ben Freedman: Safety orange, my favorite color is orange, I love orange. And then in here you’ve got your regular backpack compartment. Tiffany Young: We got some padding in there too. Ben Freedman: Yeah, and then finally there is a front pocket here, other stuffs. So you’ve got triple pockets. Tiffany Young: Very nice. Ben Freedman: In there and you’ve got a little pass through thing here for your iPod, you can put your music in there. Tiffany Young: Now, you don’t feel like this size is too small for you? Ben Freedman: No, I like this. Tiffany Young: You like it? Ben Freedman: Yeah, it’s got nice padding on the back here. Tiffany Young: Yeah, that’s very nice. Ben Freedman: With this air flow systems. Tiffany Young: Does it have any gearings? Ben Freedman: —No gearings, no gearings I'm sorry but that’s okay, I got to tell you again, another nice manly bag, what would you say? Tiffany Young: I say it’s a quasi-manly/womanly. Ben Freedman: Womanly? Tiffany Young: I think, for sure. Yeah, I mean—it’s the colors are, you know, neutral—I mean they don’t have to be— Ben Freedman: Gray, I don’t know if it was— Tiffany Young: Woman doesn’t always have to go with pink or you know. Ben Freedman: Yes, they do. I mean they don’t always have to pink. Tiffany Young: Yeah, but the size is good. I think that’s a very multi unisexual bag. Ben Freedman: $89.00 for the Mac Urban from MobileJuice and then— Tiffany Young: I like that bag. Ben Freedman: Our final Mac bag is— Tiffany Young: That’s, now that’s a manly bag. Ben Freedman: Manly bag this is a Scuba Satchel. Tiffany Young: It must be this ski coat. It reminds me of the ski coat. I think it’s got a ski coat— Ben Freedman: And it’s got a lot of Neo Frame like if you feel this, it’s a Neo Frame in wet suit kind of thing. Tiffany Young: Oh, yeah, okay. Ben Freedman: So if you haven’t to be like a driver or what have you, a nice enclosure here and it’s got this bubble—put your hand to this, see those little bubbles? Tiffany Young: Its like bubble wrap. Ben Freedman: Yeah, its like bubble wraps padding for your computer very nice padding. One thing I really liked about this is the strap. So this end is called the scuba strap and it’s actually a bungee chord. So you see that bungee chord? Tiffany Young: I do. Ben Freedman: And it makes it a very comfy because it stretches. Tiffany Young: That’s very neat— Ben Freedman: So there got to be a wave in there. Tiffany Young: This is patented. Ben Freedman: I think it is—it’s by Scuba. Scuba Designs, this one is about a $100.00. Tiffany Young: For exercise, yeah for your forearms Ben Freedman: Yeah, you just could do the stretchy thing there. But again, I think this is a great and nice one and again this one much softer than some of the others. So if you're worrying as a messenger styles—it will sort of contour to your back. Tiffany Young: Yeah, I see that. Now, I bet this is very complicated. The only thing that I'm not crazy about for me personally is just the colors. Ben Freedman: Well, that because you're a girl. Tiffany Young: I know its very manly looking. Ben Freedman: This is a manly. Now, this one is blue they do have a few other colors. But it’s still the majority is like black. So this is a nice skin manly, manly bag. Tiffany Young: Right. Ben Freedman: Protection to your computer. Tiffany Young: And I like the little scuba. Ben Freedman: This pretty handle here, is that nice little thing. Tiffany Young: So I will tend to use this for the—like where I put my weight board, rope in there and the handle is the same. Ben Freedman: Yeah, for sure, it’s a nice bag. Tiffany Young: It really is— Ben Freedman: And put this in the front. And again, it’s got this sort of design Tiffany Young: It’s for you're sporty executive, or you’re sporty— Ben Freedman: Very sporty. Tiffany Young: Yeah, it’s sporty. Ben Freedman: Its sporty spice, okay. So that is the Scuba Satchel II. Now, well take a little break and when we’ll be back with the girly bags right after this. Tiffany Young: Ah, yehey, girly bags. Ben Freedman: Stay tuned. [Commercial] Ben Freedman: Hi, there I'm Ben Freedman from Neo-Fight.TV and for the best sound for your podcast or office communications, check out the microphones at Revolabs.com. And were back and were continuing on with our bag/case theme. Tiffany Young: -A-thon. Ben Freedman: It’s a case-a-thon. We’re now, going to go into the girlier ones, so I thought with girly and the first one that I would just jump right into over here, it’s from Ice Skin and this is a Sleeve. Tiffany Young: But it’s got your orange and black colors. Ben Freedman: Yes, but come on—look. Tiffany Young: What, these aren’t necessarily girly. Ben Freedman: Stick a computer in here, so you can see what it looks like with the computer. I think this looks kind of girly. Tiffany Young: Yeah, is it the design, do you really think it makes it look girly? Ben Freedman: I just think these are sort of you know, Toby Doodles, you know, portfolio thing’s where you kind of tow them around. I mean, its nice. Its nice leathery stuff and it’s got nice zipper, I mean if you pop this top off, here we go and you can use it—the idea is to use your computer while it’s in there, like so. Tiffany Young: So to access to all your reports inside. Ben Freedman: Yeah, pretty much. I think you might have trouble getting you're external monitor— Tiffany Young: Yeah Ben Freedman: —in there. But that’s okay, so you can take it up for that. You know, put it on your lap, it doesn’t strike you as, you know, if you're carrying this— Tiffany Young: I can see— Ben Freedman: I can’t see a guy really walking around. Tiffany Young: I don’t see that, I wouldn’t think anything of it. Ben Freedman: I mean it’s a nice case, it’s well made. Tiffany Young: You know, it is the finish of it that makes you feel that way. Ben Freedman: Maybe, I don’t know. Tiffany Young: I think girl—I think its unisexual. Ben Freedman: $65.00 for that. Tiffany Young: Oh, it’s not bad. Ben Freedman: Well, the materials are very nice. Tiffany Young: Yeah, they are— Ben Freedman: You know, the leather and all that sort of stuff—I think that looks good. Tiffany Young: Uh-huh. Ben Freedman: Another case here, another very similar lines—and again this is very similar. This is from a company called Moshe. And this is the Moshe Codex and it’s pretty hard to see but this has kind of the same sort of brush. You they have the brush aluminum on my Mac. This has kind of the same, I don’t know if you guys can see this, kind of like the same brushed-looked to it. Brushed plastic or vinyl or whatever it is. Tiffany Young: Brushed vinyl—that’s a good selling tip. Ben Freedman: Again, this one has a very, very similar to the design for the other one. Tiffany Young: Yeah, I like that this has a handle. Ben Freedman: And it comes with a little keyboard protector. And then this one has a handle on it, which that one doesn’t, which is nice. Tiffany Young: That one is what I like. Ben Freedman: And check this out as well, it even has this cute little case for the Mac Remote, so for your Mac Remote in there and then this will unclip from here and you can just keep Mac remote and your Mac Remote case, isn’t that cute? Tiffany Young: That’s very cute. Ben Freedman: Now, that’s girly. I don’t know is a guy would put his Mac remote in a little case. Tiffany Young: This is probably a little more feminine, right here. Ben Freedman: Right. Tiffany Young: But it comes with some sort of external stripy thing so you can— Ben Freedman: No. Tiffany Young: Oh. Ben Freedman: This is just a zipper. Tiffany Young: Oh, it’s just a zipper, okay. Ben Freedman: And that—wasn’t that strike you're kind of feminine this little circle zipperdies. Tiffany Young: Yeah, this is more of a feminine bag, even though it’s a brushed-vinyl. Ben Freedman: We just put the handle, I'm a girl, totally cool for me. Tiffany Young: Oh, come on. It’s still unisexual but this is more girly I think than the other one. Ben Freedman: It comes with— Tiffany Young: I do like it. Ben Freedman: As well as the little remote, it comes with this little keyboard protector and spring cleaner. You can use this to clear the screen. Tiffany Young: Yeah, that’s nice. Ben Freedman: So that’s for Moshe and that called the Codex. Tiffany Young: Moshe what are we talking in price on this one. Ben Freedman: The Moshe Codex is $70.00. Tiffany Young: $70.00. Ben Freedman: Yeah. Tiffany Young: Got it. Ben Freedman: Now—and this is actually I think perfect for like my mother-in-law, it has a laptop—she has the right to take anywhere but she moves around the house. This is from Belkin. This is called the Belkin Pocket Top. Okay, similar design, it comes in a bunch of different colors as well. Tiffany Young: And Belkin is a nice brand. Ben Freedman: Yeah. Now this not so much padding on here, it’s not the kind of thing that I think you’d missed early when I like to travel with. It’s also quite large. Tiffany Young: Now, what, what's the purpose of? Ben Freedman: Okay, so grab my laptop out of the—yeah—grab the laptop out of the one there. Again, this is the Belkin Pocket Top. Tiffany Young: Got it. Ben Freedman: Well, this goes in here and you’ll notice that, yeah, it doesn’t fit, its not a full-on fit-thing. Tiffany Young: It’s supposed to be designed for 17 or it is like the 15. Ben Freedman: No, this is one size I think a 17 will fit in here as well. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: And then the idea is, in this pocket here you stick your power adapter and it goes through these little holes, do you see these little holes? Tiffany Young: Yes. Ben Freedman: The power adapter goes through there and in that way, when you're moving from place to place— Tiffany Young: Oh, that’s great. Ben Freedman: —just winds up the chord, throw it in this pocket. Tiffany Young: Okay, that is my number one choice when I am moving, I've got a 17 inch and I always trying to stick that darn power chord here ot there, cram it—my purse sometimes, you name it. Ben Freedman: So you know— Tiffany Young: I like that. Ben Freedman: It’s not really a case for a lot of stuff. Tiffany Young: No, but you know, it’s a— Ben Freedman: I wouldn’t want to take this on a plane trip. Tiffany Young: Okay, now look though, now even your hard drive, your external hard drive that can go in there, your mouse— Ben Freedman: Yeah, that could easily fit in there and you can pass the cable through it if you want. Yeah, you can put a bunch of stuff in this little pocket. Tiffany Young: This is a really neat design, I mean it’s very usable for what I do everyday, so— Ben Freedman: But can you see guys using this? Tiffany Young: It comes a little bright, I mean— Ben Freedman: I just—even the design of it I mean it just looks kind of girly. Tiffany Young: No, this is more feminine, I have to agree. Ben Freedman: There it is inside and again I just think that—this one is great, like I said, I think my mother-in-law would love this, I want to give this to my mother-in-law. Tiffany Young: And it’s great. Ben Freedman: Yeah, I think she’ll like it because again it’s great for moving around the house, you can stick your power jack back here, hard drive and mouse can all go back in here— Tiffany Young: Right. Ben Freedman: And you put it in a shelf, when you want to bring it out, you can bring it out. Tiffany Young: Right. Ben Freedman: Those are a nice little all-in-one. Tiffany Young: I like that part of it. Ben Freedman: That is the Belkin Pocket Top, which is $50.00. Tiffany Young: $50.00 that’s very depressing too. Ben Freedman: $50.00. And then finally and I got to tell you, I've saved the grisliest for last. This is a company Melissa Beth. Tiffany Young: Okay. Ben Freedman: That’s make high fashion lentil bags. And here’s the first one— Tiffany Young: Melissa Beth is that something newer I don’t remember hearing of them, oh, how cute is that. But actually looks almost like a handbag. Ben Freedman: That’s right, this is called Pocket Full Of ‘Puter. Tiffany Young: Are you serious? Ben Freedman: I'm serious, this is what it’s called. So it’s a nice look and look at this inside—very manly, so your computer goes in here, you strap it down and then you’ve got plenty of room for your, I don’t make-up? Tiffany Young: Hell, yeah. Ben Freedman: Comes with a little thingy there. Tiffany Young: Oh, yeah, that’s actually really cute. Ben Freedman: You think so? Tiffany Young: Oh, I do. Ben Freedman: Would you carry your laptop around this little guy. Tiffany Young: For travel maybe. It’s a little bit too— Ben Freedman: I think it’s very nice for girls. Tiffany Young: Let's see, Melissa Beth, I have to look at some of her stuff but yeah its very neat. Ben Freedman: This one is— Tiffany Young: See there’s a little brochure. Ben Freedman: It’s like a $150.00. Tiffany Young: It just came with this, this is $150.00. So, if you noticed something, I think they are making backpacks, laptop bags they're tapping the whole manly market. Well us, women have been subjected to eons for the handbag market. Ben Freedman: This is another sleek by Melissa Beth. Tiffany Young: Oh, that’s nice too, that’s for a little you know— Ben Freedman: This one is again for smaller or a bit smaller. That one I think will fit a bigger laptop. Tiffany Young: This is for like a little tucker, if you’ve got a little of your tappets that would fit. Ben Freedman: Sure and I think this one will fit—I don’t know if it will fit a 15-inch, let's have a look. No, so that’s not going to fit in there, so this is for a 13, yes sleek, for a little 13 size. Tiffany Young: But it’s very cute. Ben Freedman: Cute in pink. Tiffany Young: A little extra pockets for that and now here’s the inside. Ben Freedman: You got to make this—Melissa Beth makes some very cute bags. Tiffany Young: I like the little polka dots. Ben Freedman: You like the little polka dots. Tiffany Young: I do, oh, its got a little strap in here too, see. Ben Freedman: Yeah, that’s right. Shoulder strap, head strap, holder strap— Tiffany Young: What on earth? Ben Freedman: I have no idea— Tiffany Young: Yeah, I haven’t seen those bags yet, that would be interesting so, yeah, nice bag too. Ben Freedman: Good. Tiffany Young: Nice material. Ben Freedman: That’s Melissa Beth designs. Tiffany Young: I’ll write Melissa Beth, good job coming up with some women’s bags. These are really cute. Ben Freedman: So what do you think of those bags? It’s a little high fashion for guys and for gals. Tiffany Young: I would say three out of the—well actually four out of the five are pretty feminine. Ben Freedman: I agree. Tiffany Young: Yeah, so. Ben Freedman: So that’s all the time we have for this week but please visit our website www.Neo-Fight.TV send us comments, we love to see those comments we’d love it, if you put in some comments on those website.
