Joanna: Hello! My name is Joanna, I am 26-years-old and I am from Astoria. My question is what is the best way to talk to my kids about drugs and alcohol? Paul Sagerman: Joanna, great question. The answer to your question really is the same as how do you talk to your children about anything whether it's drugs and alcohol or sex or talking to strangers. The most important I can tell a parent is just go ahead and talk. Many parents don't talk to their children because they think they are going to get a bad conversation. Start young the more you talk to your children, the more practice you have, the more practice they have, and as they get older, start to listen more.
