Teachers in Lake Forest have walked off the job. The Lake Forest Teachers Association opposes a school board proposal to hire new teachers at a lower pay rate than current teachers; union officials fear the lower salaries would make Lake Forest Schools less competitive. Also, the teachers took a one-time voluntary pay freeze last year, and they don't want to do it again.
