Taniya Nayak: A sophisticated and take looking sparkle finish, self stick floor tiles and shabby sheik accessories turn this blue bathroom into that would be right at home in any upscale country cottage. I’m showing you how to do it for under $100 and less that half a day. The first step in getting a shabby sheik look for this bathroom is to get this vanity a crackle finish before I get started I have to give it a light sand to take off any varnish. Prickle finish is a full finishing painting technique but overall fact it looks weltered in old and sort of like something you’ve see in the shabby sheik boutique. The main goal here is to get the varnish rock up so that the paints stick. To achieve the crackle finish look you need three things, a base coat, a crackle finish glaze and the top coat all in total cost you about $30. Have a nice dark basecoat but when I’m done the top coat will be almost white so when you see it crackle the contrast between the dark and light it’s going to be dramatic. The basecoat of the vanity is done in drying but while I let that dry I’m going to let you down the floor to get ready for my peeling stick tile. I’m laying my first tile in a corner that has a 90 degree angle this will ensure that the rest of the tiles get laid out nice and even. It’s very simple, fill and stick that’s all it takes and this tiles cost 80 cents each I have about 30 square feet so for $24 I’m covering this whole bathroom giving you the brand new look. Although laying vinyl tiles can be really easy the tricky parking command when you have tight areas like around the toilet, I’m lining up my paper along both edges of the tiles then I take a pencil and when it write along the edge of the toilet. The next step, scrap and scissors and cut out the template and tracing out the cutout onto my new tile all I have to do is cut it and it’s going to be a perfect fit. The basecoat is dry and now it’s time to get my crack along, this is a glaze that goes on top of the basecoat and let it dry for a couple of hours and then I put my top coat on. As the top coat dries, it will start to crackle and get this great weathered looked. Great my crackle glaze is on and I need to let this dry a little bit and then I’ll come in and hit it with the top coat. It’s time for the fun part, the last step which is now putting a top coat on to allow the crackle to come through. As it dries you are going to see great character, I have to show you this look at the crackle start to take place it happen so fast almost immediately after you put the top coat on. I’m putting in a few finishing touches from around the house to finish off the look of my shabby sheik bathroom. Shabby has never look so sheik, a bathroom that was build or great boring now has character in class and entire room redone for under a $100 and in half a day you can’t bit that.
