Select Outerwear for this Winter monkeysee.com See how the experts do it. Greg Towe Store Manager L.L. Bean, Inc. When selecting outerwear and picking out their proper winter coat for yourself activity is going to play a big part in what you’re looking for, you have a couple of different options when selecting the line or for your outerwear. One of the products that’s on the market is Goose Down. A down jacket can be a great product for someone who’s going to be for just bidding in most the stationary activity for instance at a very cold football game or your sitting through something that is going to keep you pretty stationary but if you’re going to be up and about perspiring or on ski slopes or out in the weather you’re going to want to go with something that’s in a synthetic nature. Some of the synthetics that are out there are going to offer you the option of that same warmth and give you the ability to have a drying effect as well. When you choosing a shell or the external piece of your outerwear, I want to caution you as to the difference between water resistant and waterproof, water resistant is going to whip away a slight bit of moisture but in a rainstorm or if taking a tumble on the slopes the outerwear is going to dampen and get severely wet. If being completely dry is of the essence waterproof is what you want some of the outer shells that will be waterproof is going to be lined with Gore-Tex or another synthetic fabric that basically locks out any sort of moisture. Make sure you’re checking the label and not taking something that’s water resistant when you truly need that waterproof capability. Some of the shells are light lightweight some of them come in a three in one. The three in one is going to have an outerwear shell that’s going to keep you dry. The initial there on the inside can be a— or another synthetic. It can also be down. Then you’re going to have the 2 of them together in making the third option so there’s the three in one. Some of them also come in where the shell itself is lined but it’s not a zip away line or outerwear pants for the winter time or come in at the same kind of liners and the same external shells that are available in a coat so in a lot of cases you can get matching pants to go with the jacket or shell that you’ve selected. Once again it all boils down to the winter activities that you plan on participating in.
