A child sex abuse scandal grows for a Los Angeles school. A second teacher is alleged to have acted inappropriately with young girls at Miramonte Elementary. Here’s KNBC. “Martin Bernard Springer, age 49, taken into custody late morning after two girls claimed he fondled them in a Miramonte classroom. The incidents allegedly happened here over the past three years.” These allegations follow the arrest of Mark Berndt, earlier this week, another ex-Miramonte Elementary educator, who is charged with 23 counts of lewd acts against children after he allegedly fed children his semen and took bondage photos with them. Parents at Miramonte Elementary say they are deeply disturbed by the allegations; some are pulling their children from the school. KTLA also reports parents are displeased by the lack of information they’ve been given on the cases. “They always put things under the rug. They hide things. (FLASH) We want the district to give us answers. ... How we know our childrens are safe inside Miramonte school.” The Los Angeles Times reports Miramonte is one of the largest elementary schools in the area with 1500 children. It also reports the two men accused of child sex abuse crimes knew each other and took kids on the same field trips. “Springer, like Berndt, has worked his entire teaching career at Miramonte. Berndt, a Torrance resident, began working as a teacher there in 1979. Springer started there in 1986. Its teachers work varying schedules at the year-round campus, but Berndt and Springer knew each other.” The LA Times says Berndt was fired about a year ago, but was only charged recently. Springer was removed from the classroom on Thursday, but has not yet been fired.
