Gregers Fogt was on an expedition cruise outside Woodfjord, off the Norwegian island of Svalbard, when he experienced something that he himself describes as a “memory for life”. Fogt had been observing a group of polar bears from a distance when suddenly one approached the front of the boat and stood up on its hind legs, placing both front paws on the bow.
