According to researchers, playing hard to get really does work. 'Play hard to get' is a common dating advise. Now, a new study published in the European Journal of Personality confirms this age old advice. It might seem like a risky strategy that can lead to missing out on potential relationships, but both men and women play hard to get in an effort to attract a mate.Researchers from the University of Western Sydney in Australia working along with Singapore Management University took a survey poll that asked a sample of over 15 hundred college students about their dating habits. The results showed that women play hard to get more than men, and some methods include not talking to other people, being overly self confident, or withholding sex. The two most popular reasons for playing hard to get include increasing demand for the other person’s time and to see how committed they are to the relationship. Study author Doctor Peter Jonason, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Western Sydney in Australia told NBC News: "Women derive more benefit from playing hard-to-get because it allows them to test men out and increase the demand men place on them." What do you think? Is playing hard to get an effective dating strategy?
