Hey! Guys Rick from AGI Pro DJ coming at you with the question about the Pioneer CDJ-400. This is a question that came to me actually today from Sheila at the Center of Performing Arts in Oxford, Alabama. Sheila, how are you? The question you had is using a CDJ-400. How easy is it to actually go from playing an actual CD which I’m doing now to play music that’s on flash drive? As many of you know, that’s one of the biggest selling features of anything that’s USB ready, being able to put music on a flash drive. One thing Sheila is doing and made her ask that question is if I have music that’s contained on folders for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, how easy is it for the 400 to recognize those folders. So if it’s Wednesday today, she goes to Wednesday and finds the music in Wednesday. How long does it take for that to happen? In DJ’s in fact doesn’t pertain to you. Think of it this way. If you have crates on a flash drive, Hip Hop, Top40, Mainstream, Electronica, how quick can it access it? So check this out. What we’re doing now is playing a CD and what I want to do is stop this. And what we’re going to do is see just how long it takes initially for the CDJ-400 to read the device. So we’re going to stick this in and I want to hit the start button on a timer. Your load time and as you can see the flickering of the memory, it’s reading the device right now. That load time is affected by how many tracks are on that particular device. So for the purposes of the question that was asked by Sheila, Monday through Sunday, that’s seven days and I put approximately 50 tracks in each in every folders. So what you’re looking at here is that it’s reading a device with 350 tracks approximately so as soon as the light stops flickering, that will be a good indicator that we’re actually ready to access the folders that are on the flash drive. So that’s an important tool on a CDJ-400 and it’s a question that we feel from time to time, and I thought it was important enough to put into a video. So that’s what we’re doing right now. We’re at about 45 seconds. It should take just under a minute. Once that’s done and—and DJ just keep in mind that if you ever flash it that you’re using for the entire night, you definitely be able to put that in here and leave it the whole night, and zigzag back and forth between USB and regular. So that took about a minute. It’s done. So one thing I’m going to do is I’m going to flip over to USB, it was on CD. I hit the USB button—put this little flashing FLD, that’s folders. I have a folder called music folders and Sheila if you’re watching us, I did this just for you. I hit enter, we got Friday, Monday, Saturday. Let’s assume we’re looking for Wednesday. So let’s go through here find the folder. We hit this button and then all of the tracks that are contained within Wednesday show up. So here they all are and you can select whichever you want by pressing the button. The track is loaded. If you’re a Rocky fan which I am, you’ll recognize this track. So let’s say the dance is finished Sheila, so what you’re going to do is you’re going to hit your stop button, you’re going to stop this track. And then you want to go back to CD because the next set of dancers uses the CD that you’ve got here. How quickly do it?—you just hit the CD button, and it takes just a second, it’s backed up and running. We’re playing on actual CD now. Let’s say that dance ended and you just realized “Oh gee! The next dance even though its Wednesday is on my Thursday file. How am I going to do with that?” Hit the USB button because to all the tracks that were loaded previously, we’re going to hit the back button. There’s your folder section again and we’re going to go and search for Thursday. There’s Thursday, we hit enter. There’s all your tracks. We select whatever we want there. It loads the track and you’re off and running little retro classic from Marky Mark. The best this shows is how easy it is to go from CD to USB flash drive. And again, you can keep this flash drive in all night long and a little zigzag, back and forth just to allow maybe a minute or so to get all those tracks loaded in depending on how many you have in the flash drive to begin with. Very simple, easy to use at fast, couldn’t get any easier than that. Check us out on the web anytime at agi@prodj.com.
