Ped 3 Cell phone Holder Review Tiffany Young Hi and welcome to Neo-Fight.TV, the technology show for the 'Not-So-Geeky'. My name is Tiffany Young. Ben Freedman: And I’m Ben Freedman in an uncontroversial shirt this week. Tiffany Young: That’s purple shirt. Ben Freedman: Is purple okay? Tiffany Young: That’s very Easter like. Ben Freedman: Easter like, yeah it’s coming up or has it passed. I’m not quite sure it’s around now in a couple of weeks. Tiffany Young: I guess you missed Easter. Ben Freedman: Yeah. You know it’s that whole thing yeah. So today on the show we’re going to look at a few little product it is exciting and this is from a company called .thoughtout.biz. Now if I show you what this, what does this look like it does to you? Tiffany Young: Well my first guess was a cell phone holder for your dad. Ben Freedman: This is actually a back scratcher, may I demonstrate it to you. It is actually the monster from Clover Field. No you’re right it’s the, it’s a holder and it’s designed, this is actually called the Ped3 by Well no, I don’t know why it’s called Ped, it’s called the Ped 3 from thoughtout.biz, and this one—they do make one for the iPhone and for other devices, but this one is designed for the iPod Touch. Tiffany Young: Watch Video. Ben Freedman: That’s right because who wants to see here and hold this thing the whole time and let me throw a video on here, video. Tiffany Young: Is that for the regular iPod too? Ben Freedman: They had different so let me show you, this thing pulls out like so, and actually it’s kind of neat. They have two different angles, so if you’re closer you will look up on this further away and you want to look a little more horizontally, you can choose which angle you want to put that. If you buy more of these. Tiffany Young: It’s a great idea. You know what, I can use sugar balls to take my little guy to the restaurant and put on the videos just we could have five minutes of quiet. Ben Freedman: This is perfect for restaurants for me. Tiffany Young: And we have popped out against sugar balls or whatever else— Ben Freedman: So this sits in here like so, and if you can take a look, Tiff can you identify the show? Tiffany Young: Oh Tootsie. Ben Freedman: No. How long does it take, It’s Rhoda, no, Bob Newhart—no. Tiffany Young: I was too young. Ben Freedman: Mary Tyler Moore Tiffany Young: I know it’s Mary Tyler Moore, is that the Mary Tyler Moore Show? Ben Freedman: It is the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Tiffany Young: I never really watch it. Ben Freedman: Anyway, if you have stuff like photos or whatever you’re viewing in, in vertical format you can turn it this way but of course it is really exciting for watching video like that and it is a pretty simple one function — Tiffany Young: Well, I guess the other question is I guess you just your address, and papers or your headset. Ben Freedman: Yeah, or if it’s an iPhone, you can get this for your iPhone, iPhone got these little speakers in here and you can put out—you can use your phone. You could take on another phone in here I guess, I mean, anything that’s kind of that size. Tiffany Young: Well this wouldn’t be nearest good looking. Ben Freedman: Your phone yeah, but so you play videos on this one? Tiffany Young: Yeah. Ben Freedman: Or you could — Tiffany Young: Not very well but. Ben Freedman: Well, let’s say you would like to have this on your desk, you want it in a speaker phone mode—it makes it a kind of nice desk accessory. Tiffany Young: Except that you have turn off like this or speaker phone mode, or speakers back there but either way sure. Ben Freedman: Either way. Tiffany Young: Great yeah. Ben Freedman: But it is designed for iPod, so very simple product. Tiffany Young: Isn’t it nice to have designs—as simpler they are, they’re more beautiful they are. Ben Freedman: How much would pay for this device as this young. Tiffany Young: I would pay, Bob, I would probably pay 19 bucks, 20 bucks—no, I’ll pay more? I would not pay more or would I pay more? Ben Freedman: 40. Tiffany Young: 40 bucks. Ben Freedman: Well, tell the construction and it’s nothing as a solid chunk of a limit. Tiffany Young: Yeah that’s true. Ben Freedman: Or stealers something. Tiffany Young: It’s not like this is going to break for sure. Ben Freedman: No—40 bucks. Tiffany Young: Well, I would say if you plan on using it more than once a week, divide it by a couple of years, $40.00 is worth it. Ben Freedman: Let me show you this. This is the product that were—they also include here in the package at no extra charge, this cool little device, what do you think this? I mean hold up the camera before I give it to you, and I will tell you right now, this tiny little piece of plastic is $12.00, what do you think that is? Tiffany Young: I think that plugs in the computer. Ben Freedman: Something that plugs into a computer. Let me see it. I’ve got enough cable here. So, here is a Mac Book and the Mac Book uses this magnetic connector, have you ever seen this where it just snaps on, like so? And to do this, so that if you’re walking and your kid trips over the thing, it just knocks off, right? It doesn’t rip your laptop off the table. The problem is, is if you’re sitting on here and now this has happened to me a hundred times, when you’re sitting, your leg pushes up against the side, it can do this, and just instantly—you know, you think you’re charging, but you’re not. Right charging, not charging. Charging Tiffany Young: Great idea. Ben Freedman: Not charging. So what you do is this, you take this little guy and you thread it on here like so, and then you plug this in like this. It does take up one of your USB ports and like that, take a look, see? But now you’ll notice that it’s came off, so you don’t want to do this when your kids are running around because this will yank your laptop out of the table. But if you’re worried about the charging you still have a little light through there. Tiffany Young: Oh that’s a great idea. Now this company, tell me again the name of the company. Ben Freedman: thoughtout.biz, that’s there website. Tiffany Young: Where do you guys come up with this—all these ideas, this is great. Ben Freedman: They see problems and they just want to solve them. Tiffany Young: I wonder, they’re watching Neo-Fight, you know we come up with quite a few problems don’t we? Their products? Ben Freedman: Oh we have lots of problem, we have problem. Tiffany Young: Well with their products on the other hand, is another story. Ben Freedman: We got another segment right after this but go check out thoughtout.biz and we’ll be right back with some more, cool product reviews, stay tuned. [Commercial] Ben Freedman: And we’re back Neo-Fight.TV thanks of sticking around. Tiffany Young: We’re still here. Ben Freedman: We just fast forward through the commercial, I know I watched it. So last week, we had that Mac Book and I’ve got a couple of nasty emails from people saying what’s with the $100.00 sleeves and a $120.00 sleeves and the $60.00 and the $80.00 sleeves and that. Tiffany Young: Well there’s that or eBay or tell us about the next product Bob. Ben Freedman: Well, I had this sleeve here from Belkin. Belkin known as a good brand but it also not—you know, I wouldn’t call Belkin the luxury product line there, they’ve done the sports—what’s the crystal people sports? Tiffany Young: Short Picks, yeah. Ben Freedman: It’s not the bears, diamonds or whatever of Mac Book, there are good products, here’s a nylon Mac Book case, here is my Mac Book here and I’m just going to—first of all, stick your hand in it, feel how soft. Tiffany Young: Very soft. Nice color. Ben Freedman: Neutral, it’s the new nude. Tiffany Young: Well, it’s not really. Ben Freedman: New Nude? Tiffany Young: It’s kind of a silverish, that’s nice. Ben Freedman: I mean it’s functional and it’s got a little scrap which is removable I might add, without scissors. Tiffany Young: Yeah actually it’s fine, it actually feels pretty good quality. Ben Freedman: Yeah, and you know, it’s only—it’s under 30 bucks for that, so it’s a little less expensive than the other one s. Tiffany Young: Than the other ones. Ben Freedman: Yeah. Tiffany Young: Well, there’s always alternatives, that’s for sure—so finding the companies that can provide them for you. Ben Freedman: Belkin also sent me another cool product, look if you going to show us that sleeve, mention this little guy as well and this is a—you’re going to know it. Tiffany Young: That’s a four-port USB adapter. Ben Freedman: The four-port USB adapter, fantastic. Tiffany Young: Only the tough one. Ben Freedman: What’s cool about this is this check out and see the adapter here will not only swivel like so, but it also swivels like so. Now why is this important? It’s important because you could single your USB port on here, it’s actually kind of hard to get through here. And you may notice, there’s not much room in there, if you wanted to just stick like something big like a USB modem or similar things, sometimes they won’t fit. But the nice thing about this is you can fit this in here like so, if its right. Tiffany Young: That’s nice. Ben Freedman: Yeah and now if you need it at a slightly different angle, you know like this and facing towards you like so, you know you’ve got nice angle at which you can put it up. Tiffany Young: Well, maybe it doesn’t — Ben Freedman: You get halfway through of our freaking product demo. Tiffany Young: So let me ask you something, when it comes to USB—either it’s 2.0, 4.0—it depends on what’s built into your hard drive. Ben Freedman: There is 1.0 and 2.0 and nobody uses 1.0 just 2.0. Tiffany Young: Okay but if you’re actually plugging in your other products like your scanner, printer, hard drive, why is it that, you know, sometimes it works on sometimes it doesn’t? Ben Freedman: Oh what a great question Mrs. Young, may I say, it all has to do with power. So typically, this port is designed for one thing. If you plug four things into it, it’s going to draw too much power for your computer and it may not work. That’s why a lot of USB hubs, including this one, have a power port, this power port over there, right there. So quite often, if it doesn’t work, what you have to do is just to plug in a power adapter because the one single port—if you plug with the mouse and a scanner and a printer and a hard drive in here that’s going to overwhelm the computer. Tiffany Young: So, you’re saying that it’s not that I can’t do it, its just it needs more power. Ben Freedman: The other thing is this. Keep in mind your splitting up the speed of the port. Between the four things—it is still just a one — Tiffany Young: It’s like a central vac, if you try and vacuum four rooms at once. Ben Freedman: Great analogy. Four rooms at once, wow—that’s very good, you’re right. There wouldn’t be enough power to vacuum all four rooms and you’ve just got. Tiffany Young: I’m a visual thinker, what can I say. Ben Freedman: You’ve just got as much suction as you’ve got and that’s what you’ve got, that’s good. What do you think? Nice thing about this is pretty small, you know, if you want to travel with it—hook it up to there, it does stay if go and put it that way. Tiffany Young: Right. No, it’s nice. I like it. Light-weight, it matches, always matching is importance. Ben Freedman: And what do you think the cost? Now many would say you can get cheap hubs off eBay or off of these kinds of places for like eight bucks or ten bucks. Tiffany Young: You’re paying for the design on this one for sure. I would probably say 30 bucks. Ben Freedman: 30 bucks, you are right! Tiffany Young: Right, yeah. Ben Freedman: $30.00, and you know what, if you got a Mac Book Air when you don’t have a lot of room this is really a good solution for having multiple stuff like this, what’s also nice is—do you know where I also use this, they sent me two and I give one to my wife and she has an iMac and you have an iMac right. Tiffany Young: Yes I do. Oh yeah and that is exactly perfect. Ben Freedman: Not only are the ports all in the back but they’re hard to get to, so you know what she does is she plugs this into the iMac like so or like this way and it has the way it is on iMac, now all of these are right on the side of the screen, so she just look and plug stuff in. Tiffany Young: Yeah right, and there’s not many ports on the iMac. Ben Freedman: It’s like three or four yeah. So you just plugs this in and you’ll get four more ports and they now stick out of it from the side so you can actually see them so you just put the Mac Book Air and for the iMac. Tiffany Young: Nice products. Ben Freedman: And that’s all the time we have for this week but send us some comments if you hated something on the show send that comment to Tiff and because I hear—I have a rough personality problems. Tiffany Young: Filter, filter, filter. Ben Freedman: My life is as a spin filter right now. Tiffany Young: And let me know if they’ve developed a program where if it was like a series of bad words mathematically, it just deletes it and it junks, you know. Ben Freedman: That would be great, what’s the color the sky in your world Tiffany. Tiffany Young: It would be a bright blue with big white fluffy clouds. Ben Freedman: www.neo-fight.tv is the website to go to leave us a comment, send us a link and let me know what you think of any of this stuff. Let Tiffany know what you think of that and we’ll see you next week. Tiffany Young: Thanks for joining us. Ben Freedman: And if you have an extra 30 seconds take a look at this. [Commercial]
