The assistant principal came out and he talked to you know all the parents saying that all the kids was fine but that still did not make me feel any better because I did not see my son. I mean, all this hyper stuff is going through my head. I mean I'm thinking that you know, it's my son that was laying there on that ground, or my niece that was laying there on that ground. Wide shot of parent hugging her childSTORYLINE:Atlanta's police chief says an armed officer working at a city middle school where a teen was shot was able to disarm the suspect moments after the shooting.Authorities say a 14-year-old boy was shot in the back of the neck Thursday at Price Middle School and his injury does not appear be life-threatening. The suspect is also a student at the school and has been taken into custody.Some parents rushed to the school to check on their child after hearing about the shooting. Laquanda Pittman's 13-year-old son Michael Martin attends Price middle school. She said "I saw like a white blanket on the ground the first thing I could think of was, the first thing I thought of was that it could be my child you know, laying there on the ground. That's what led me here."Another parent, Yolanda Ponder said it was "joy" when her 13-year-old child got off the school bus. After seeing her child, Jatavius Ponder, she said "it's the best feeling in the world." Chief George Turner says multiple shots were fired, and only the 14-year-old was wounded. A teacher received minor cuts in the aftermath of the shooting in the courtyard of the school.Police spokesman Carlos Campos says investigators believe the shooting was not random.
