Meet the newest resident of Mexico's Zacango Zoo. It's a new baby Nile hippo and this little one is sticking close to it's momma's hip. The 15th hippo to be born at the zoo weighed in at 35 kilograms and the endangered Sub-Saharan African animal is adapting well to its environment. But our hungry hippo isn't the only new kid on the block. The zoo's coordinator Ana Sofia Manzur announced that there was another birth this summer.

The 15th hippo to be born at the zoo weighed in at 35 kilograms and the endangered Sub-Saharan African animal is adapting well to its environment. But our hungry hippo isn't the only new kid on the block. The zoo's coordinator Ana Sofia Manzur announced that there was another birth this summer. (SOUNDBITE) (English) Zoo coordinator Ana Sofia Manzur saying: "Currently, this is the 17th giraffe birth registered here. It is listed as an endangered species, which means it depends on the continuous reproduction of the species in captivity in order to sustain the population." The zoo has an exchange program for the giraffes, who have been placed at other parks around the world, to avoid overpopulation.
