Molly Sims' New Jewelry Line Rhiannon Ally: A super model Molly Sims has graced the covers of countless magazine, active on the hit show Las Vegas and is ready to show us how multi-talented she really is by adding entrepreneur to her resume. She talks to Lesley about her new Jewelry Line. Lesley Nagy: Thanks Rhiannon. I’m here with Molly Sims and her new Jewelry collection called Grace. That was making jewelry something you’ve always wanted to do? Molly Sims: You know my mom has had such a passion for so many years. She went to yard sales and state sales and she’s been collecting. And when I first started modeling, she would give me the things to wear and through acting and being on the red carpet and working with different stylist, they would actually work my jewelry. So, I kind of I’ve got known for wearing different textures and different colors but mainly for kind of my eclectic of chic and vintage kind of mixed together the whole layering thing. So, when HSN approached me, it was kind of an amazing experience because this is the first time I’ve ever put my name on anything. And the name Grace comes from-- Lesley Nagy: I was going to ask you that one. Molly Sims: I know that everybody asked me, my mom always used to say, “You should be graceful and grateful no matter how old you are”. So, it’s been a little bit of labor of love. Lesley Nagy: So, is she proud of you too then? Molly Sims: She is so proud. And I think the great thing about my jewelry is that the one thing I love is that it is for young people, it is for mental age people, it’s for older people so it run the gamete like my mom and I have always shared and loved jewelries. And like my sister-in-law wears it, my aunts wear it. So, that’s been fun to like try it out on all of my girlfriends but also on my family and it’s been a lot of fun. Lesley Nagy: I love some of these pieces. This is gorgeous one. Molly Sims: Thank you. So, this is the July collection. So, what’s great about HSN is that we go on about four to five times a year. So, you get to do mini collections. So, this is like a vintage medallion, I kind of have like I love the whole boohoo kind of gypset look and it’s just fun for summer and kind of going into like early fall and you can mix it with dresses, with jeans. And most of my stuff is really day to night because I travel so much. So I love mixing like this and then I have like for the layering, for the layers—ladies who do not know how to layer, I’ve kind of done it for them. Lesley Nagy: And I see you have a lot of layers too in your necklace. Molly Sims: Yes, like I have this one which is here and this comes in a set. So you can wear this one three ways, you can wear it long, you can wear it like this, you can wear—it’s kind of again like this. Lesley Nagy: What was the process like to make this? Molly Sims: Do you think a lot of manikins and a lot of things and styling and like I love always having something at neck. So, normally my sets come in twos, so a little statement piece, that’s a long piece like my crystal glamorous set. This is two sets of this. So, you can do like seven necklaces with this. You can make it long, you can tie it to your hair and you can tie up around, keep going and then you have a whole another set to play with. So, it’s really fun in like creating and I love like crystal and cut glass. And I love sparkle and but I also love things to be chic and eclectic at the same time. So, you know I think for me it’s been important to like really design things in people’s price range because you want it—you do not want to break the bank on one piece. You want to keep adding so I call it my— Lesley Nagy: Especially in this economy. Molly Sims: But in any economy, I group in Kentucky and that was a great thing that my mom would find you know things in boxes for $20.00 and $50.00 and $100.00. So, this line is only from $30.00 to $130.00. So, it’s been fun. Lesley Nagy: Now, of course you’ve done the modeling, the acting now, jewelry. Are you going - are you still going to do acting? Molly Sims: You know I am and I love it. And the show is amazing. We are on from a six years but it’s been nice to take a break from it but I definitely want to go back. I love comedy and I’ve loved my family, my TV family and that was amazing. And I do miss it but it’s been great to take a break and to do other things. Lesley Nagy: And do something new.
