Melanie Raposo: Hi everybody! I'm Melanie Raposo and welcome to Mommy's Minute. Between 50 and 80% of new mothers experience what is known as the Baby Blues. The Baby Blues are feelings of sadness and let down after you have a baby. These feelings usually appear 3-4 days after giving birth and it is caused by the sudden change in hormones. Common symptoms include mood swings, anxiety, and loneliness. The Baby Blues is a mild form of postpartum depression but symptoms usually disappears within two weeks of giving birth. If these symptoms last for more than a couple of weeks make sure to notify your doctor immediately.
