Kate Winslet's New Role Kate Winslet is back at work despite recently ending her seven-year marriage. The Oscar winning actress seen here onset in New York is currently filming the upcoming HBO mini series Mildred Pierce where she will play the title role. Set during the great depression, Winslet’s character is a newly divorced single mother who takes a job at a restaurant and soon finds herself cut up in a web of intrigue and murder. It’s the kind of part Taylor made for the 34-year-old, who has made her career of taking roles in period pieces. Mildred Pierce is a remake of the 1945 critically acclaimed film of the same name and earned Jillian Crawford an academy award for her portrayal. Filming is expected to continue throughout April and will be aired later this year.
