Joy and Eve Behar Join Heart Disease Awareness Campaign Better TV.com Audra Lowe: First Joy Behar is no stranger to controversy, the outspoken star of the view keeps her cohost and her audience on their toes every single day. Well now she’s speaking out about a very, very special issue that’s close to her heart. It’s a very serious one too. Rhiannon sat down with Joy and her daughter Eve to talk about the issue and the conversation that you should be having with your mom or your dad today. Rhiannon Ally: Mom and daughter joining forces to discuss a topic that’s no laughing matter. Joy Behar: It’s really not that much funny about heart disease or any disease for that matter. Rhiannon: Very true. Joy: Maybe carpal tunnel you can go with a few lapse at them but not this. Eve Behar: It’s a good way to start the conversation between generations which is why I’m here to say you know daughters talk to your moms about their risks and that they can do it to prevent them. Joy Behar: We have taken of them enough. Now its time for them to take care of their mothers. Audra: Joy may be all smiles on the view or in the Red Carpet but Joys mom died suddenly after a heart attack when she was still in her 50s so she offers this advice to young women. Eve Behar: I think have to say to your mother listen you know I don’t want to lose you at a young age. I still need you, you know and its time for you to watch what you’re eating, watch yoru weight. Move arund more stop smoking and that really is elementary. Rhiannon: Guilt trip. Joy Behar: Right. Guilt trip. Rhiannon: We’re got at that aren’t we? Joy Behar: Yeah. Nagging is good. Eve Behar: Oh that works. Rhiannon: You’re an only child, how close are you and your mom? Eve Behar: Very close. We are. Joy Behar: You’re attached with the hip. Eve Behar: She lives in my building. Rhiannon: Really. Eve Behar: Yes different apartments, different floors, different wings but same address. Joy Behar: Yeah. Rhiannon: Congratulations on one year on your show. Joy Behar: Yes on my HLN show the Joy Behar Show which airs at 9 o’clock every night and the view has been on for well we just celebrated our 3,000th show on the view. Rhiannon: Wow, which one do you love more can you pick one the view of your show. Eve Behar: Easily. Joy Behar: You know I read a study that said that the people who are happy in life are people who have control over or who have power and control over their situation so I’m always happier in my own show because I tell people what to do there. We’re actually at the view. They tell me what to do kind of but not really. Rhiannon: For our viewers who are mostly women out there. Your story is so inspiring because you were a teacher for a long time. Joy Behar: Yes. Rhiannon: How did you make that transition to follow what you really had a passion for which is comedy? Joy Behar: I was, well I was really too scared to do it but it’s a daunting job to get up in front of people alone on the stage so it took a lot to get me there. It took a near death experience which I had an ectopic pregnancy which almost killed me. It’s a serious thing by the way and I got fired from my job. I was working at Good Morning America as a receptionist after I was a teacher so I was a pretty hostile receptionist and then I got a divorce. All those three things happened like in two years so I said you know what let me just throw myself into this and I was pretty successful pretty early, right. Eve Behar: Yeah oh yeah. Rhiannon: She says taking risks led to her comedic success and then she continues to make us all life daily. Did I read correctly that you really kissed Lisa Renner the other day? Joy Behar: I did. I did because she’s been taking the silicone out of those enormous lips that she’s been carrying around for years and they just took the silicone out and now they went down it was like two little soft pillows so I kissed her to test them. Rhiannon: In front of her husband? Joy Behar: Her husband was sitting there. I think he got turned on frankly. Audra: That moment is so funny. I love both of them. Is her daughter a comedian that’s what I want to know? Rhiannon: Yeah can you believe that they are so cute together. Her daughter is actually an artist if you can believe that. She said she doesn’t have the love of the camera the way her mom does but they are so cute, their dynamic it reminds me of me and my mom a little bit. Audra: That’s a good thing too. Well I have good memories you and your mom too. Now Heart disease obviously is a serious issue what about Joy did she talk to you about whether or not its past down to her? Rhiannon: Well she does have a long history of it in her family not just her mom but also other family members so it is a big concern from both of them which she says she just does tries to minimize the risks every single day by diet exercise things like that and that’s actually why they joined with this campaign. With Bayer Aspirin for the mom second chance campaign so there’s lots more information online. Audra: Online on our website so put a link over there. Better TV.com thank you very much Rhiannon.
