Career expert and counselor, Nicole Williams, shows you how write a job interview thank you letter.
This is how you write a job interview thank you letter. You actually need to write two letters. The first letter that you need to write is immediately after the interview. I need you to go home that afternoon, that evening, and write an email. And you say, "Thank you very much for this opportunity. It was delightful to meet you." Make reference to some kind of connection that you made during the interview, something that makes you memorable, something hopefully that was personal. Then the second letter. This is a handwritten letter, and this is essential, because this is going to arrive in the mail three or four days later as a reminder of how fantastic you were for the job. This is not a twenty page letter. This is a little thank you note, just thanking them for taking the time to sit down and meet with you. A majority of people write the email note. They don't write the thank you handwritten note that arrives in the mail. And guess what? That little card, or that little note, sits on that person's desk for days later, when they're still in the process of deciding who's going to be the best candidate for the job. This is a way of making yourself very memorable, so please, write a thank you note after you've had an interview.
