We all own a skinny jean but do you have a jean legging? Today, we’re going to show you how to wear blue, gray and stirrup jean leggings. Combining the tight fit and comfort of a legging with the style and appearance of denim, jean leggings have taken the popular skin tight look to a new level. Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Tailor Swift, Sienna Miller and Kate Beckinsale have all been spotted in this comfy, faux jean. Our first look is the blue denim legging. This is an easy way to ride the trend. Essentially, it’s your basic blue denim in a sleeker, lighter weight fit. Try a pair with faux pockets, a zipper and a button, so that it has all the qualities of normal jeans but with some added comfort. On Ivy, we have a comfy sweater cape to play with proportions. Oversized knits are a staple for fall. A lighter tan cape like this looks great down but if you want more shape, you can take this belt and actually put it around you to show off your waist. Underneath, a buttoned-up Oxford shirt elevates the slouchiness of the cape and makes the look more sophisticated. You can also try a silk tunic for a dress year occasion. Dark brown Lace Up ankle booties with a small heel are good for day and night. And if you’re just running around town, flat riding boots also tie in well. A good thing to remember, darker jean leggings tend to look more like denim than lighter jean leggings. So, it’s best to opt for darker colors. The next look is a gray jean legging. We selected gray because it is neutral and goes with everything. Grays continuing on from the spring runways as a key color for fall, making these pants an excellent transition piece. Now, for this outfit, we wanted something a little unexpected. So, we added a sequin top. This is the place to play with textures and show some contrast. If you don’t have a sequin top, bold colors and embellished shirts are also a good substitute. To tone down and toughen up the sequence, throw on a military-inspired olive blazer. A pair of nude peep toe pumps polishes up the look and here, you can also offer metallic strappy heels to make the look more—one style tip is you don’t want the sequin and the military jacket to look too busy. So, keep the jacket and the top in a complimentary color story. For this retro chic outfit, which shows a black jean legging with stirrups that has a very 80’s flavor. Not only does the stirrup add an element of practicality, keeping your pant leg in place but it also add some distinction and edginess to a basic skinny silhouette. Here we channel the 80’s with a strong shoulder blazer to freshen up the look and add a bit of structure. This jacket has puff sleeves that are tagged less harsh in the power shoulder and give off a more feminine vibe. We added a soft pink tint to give a hint of color without being too overstated. Knitted purples, blues and grays will also look great. A chain necklace and studded clutch give the outfit some edge. Complete the look with gray pointed toe pumps that are in line with our 80’s vibe and helps along get the leg. A keynote here is to find a shoe and a color that lets the stirrup shine. A sleek heel and a lighter or contrasting color will do the trick. Jean leggings are a great way to look polished and stay comfortable this fall. From standard denim washes, black and gray tones, there is something for everyone in this style. We hope you’ve been inspired to wear jean leggings in new ways. I’m Allison.
