GetconnectedTV Tech Talk AJ Vickery: Well, we often talk about how important the Internet is and how powerful it is, but I don't think everybody knows that you can connect to the Internet through more than just a computer. For example, the console that's in your house your Nintendo Wii, they have connected to the Internet. Well, Matt Ryan is here from Nintendo to talk to us about what you can actually do with your Nintendo Wii online, hey Matt. Matt Ryan: Hey how are you? AJ Vickery: Good so tell us bit about it online Nintendo what are things people could do on that? Matt Ryan: Well going online with your Wii system or your Nintendo DS or your Nintendo DSi is really easy so to connect your Wii, you basically just need a broadband Internet connection, and you just go through the steps just to setup your accounts, it's not as much of an account that you have to pay for it, it's actually free, we've to set we're getting connecting. So once you've done that and you've got tons of options of things you can check out. There is news, there is weather. AJ Vickery: It's not sunny like it's supposed to be. Matt Ryan: There is games you can download and then just information you can download, it's all free. AJ Vickery: And I think that's where people often think that the only reason to go online is to play games with someone online which is a huge thing, but there is more than that. Matt Ryan: What I've shown you here is the Wii Shop Channel which is the first place you want to go once you do how internet connection because then you can see what's available. AJ Vickery: And so inside the shop what should people expect to see there? Matt Ryan: Well, there is a bunch of things, so we have service called Virtual Console, which enables users to download old games from the past in Nintendo Entertainment System Games and 64 Games, Super Nintendo Games, Turbo Graphics Games and SEGA Genesis games. The games are actually exactly the same as they were before. The special moves are the same the secrets and all the gems that you going to find inside the games are the same, they're identically the same as they were before. AJ Vickery: Is it cost for some of them? Matt Ryan: Yeah, so there is a costs to the Virtual Console games, the way it works is the currency is in Nintendo points or Wii points. Games can range anywhere from 200 points to 2,000 points and they transcends to about $2 to $20. GetConnectedTV
