How to Use IP Scan Advanced Hi I'm Charles from Dependable Computer Guys. I'm one of their Senior Engineers and from time to time we need to find out the IP addresses of devices that are present in our current network and reasons why you’d want to do this is so you can add more devices and add more network printers, add servers and to just make sure you don’t crash another device on that network if you in case you use the wrong IP. And my favorite tool is IP Scanner and I want to show you how to get it. Visit www.download.com, enter in to the search bar IP Scanner. Choose from the choices the one that’s been downloaded the most. I recommend Advance IP Scanner, download it and install it. Once you got your IP Scanner installed and that you match, you will see that it comes up with your local area network automatically. You can hit scan and it will show you list of all of your devices by IP, by their network name and with a little customization you can get the net files name and all types of extra features. If you right click on any of them you’ll see that tons of features as well to play with them. If you're interested in setting up a DHCP reservation, you will also need the Mac address. The best way that I know of is to go to DOS, type ARP-A and you'll see the Mac address associated with the IP Address that you're having questioned about. I hope this was helpful to you. If you have any questions about it give me a call at Dependable Computer Guys.
