Airlines have rules about using electronic gadgets while flying. You also aren't allowed to use cell phones while in the air. If you turn on airplane mode, however, you can still access applications on your phone but turn all wireless communications off. Perfect for if you want to compose an email, play a game or watch a movie while in flight.

Butterscotch Tutorial How to turn on "airplane mode" on your Android phone Michael Callahan: Hi, this is Mike Callahan Doctor File Finder and welcome to your Butterscotch.com tutorial on how to put your Android phone into Airplane mode. You can't have a cell phone on while you're flying but if you put on Airplane mode you can use your phone to play games or write text, compose emails and so on. So on your Android phone tap settings. So we'll do that brings up a menu, you're going to want tap wireless and networks, I'll highlight that you can see it and will let go. There at the very top is Airplane mode, disables all wireless communications. So you simply tap that now you see the check mark is green, if you look at the very top you can see that there is a little Airplane icon right here next to the battery. So now you know that you are in Airplane mode. That's Airplane mode makes it great when you are on a flight and you want to use your device for something other than communications, and that's all there is to it.
