Mike: My name is Mike from Virginia Beach and I was wondering what do you do when your acne goes away and red spots stay on your face? Dr. Susan Rabizadeh: Mike, that's a really common problem and when acne is being treated appropriately, the red spots will actually fade on their own. However, given your complexion it may take anywhere from weeks to even months for those red spots to go away. The most important thing is to protect your skin from the sun using a Broad Spectrum oil-free sunscreen on a daily basis. Next, if those red spots continue to appear, you may want to see your dermatologist who can perform some laser procedures that will help make them go away quicker.
