Erik: How did you go about seeking advice as you prepared for parenthood? James: I just talked to moms and dads that I knew about what their experiences were, to be honest. I knew that my experience was gonna be different than everybody else’s just as, you know, anyone else’s is different than mine. But I think ultimately having the benefit of talking to people who’ve been through it, you know, once, twice, three, four times, you know, recently, you know, 5 years ago, 25 years ago, whatever it is, and the little nuances that came through and how people talked about what got them through a particularly challenging time, what made particular sets of circumstances amusing or, you know, kind of eye-opening, and how they learned from successes and failures that they had or at least that they felt that they had in the course of raising their children.
