Learn how to play left hand scales on the piano
Transcript
Now, here is a little study in how to play consecutive notes. You have already in the previous lesson learn how to play one, one note, four, three, two, one, or three, two, one or one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one two three. Now we are going to use the same feeling, the same hand position. Curve your finger under and curve your fifth finger under and play starting on any A with the fourth finger. [Music playing] Three on B, two on C, one on D then with the third finger coming over, tuck the thumb under. Play, three on E, two on F, and one on G. Again, four, three, two, one, three, two, one, four, three, two, one, three, two, one and then going down it is one, two, three. Third finger comes on to the D, one, two, three, one, two, three, four, unless we are doing with the left hand and I do not want you to connect the notes. Sort of like playing the drum, have you ever see anyone playing with their fingers on an Indian drum, the tabla or well from all around the world they play it that way. [Music playing] It is called staccato. Look that up, staccato in the Virginia Tech Music Multimedia Dictionary. You want to pluck the notes like a bird pecking at the seeds. [Music playing] Over and over, practice until you can do it quickly [Music Playing].
