How to Make Your Own Baby Food Making homemade baby foods sounds like a lot of work but it’s easy. I’ll show you some simple recipes and the need to why I’m storing the food. You can use just about any vegetables. And like adults, the more variety your baby gets the better. Some vegetables like potato don’t freeze well so better serve freshly cooked. I know little one who probably typed mysterious and often temporary dislike to love a taste. So I experiment with lots of variety and try not to make too many assumptions about they will and weren’t like because babies don’t experience taste the adults do. You can even have herbs and spices in moderation to your baby’s food as long as you avoid salt because it can stress their kidneys. Don’t worry they will let you to know what they don’t like. But don’t give up on a particular taste until they’ve tried it three or four times and even then they may still change their mind in a month’s time. Like vegetables, some fruits like banana, cantaloupe and avocado don’t freeze well and taste better raw. But apples, pears, peaches and even — poach beautifully. And adding some raw cereal to the fruit makes a great breakfast. Not all fruits are suitable at this stage. So find out from your maternal health nurse what fruit you shouldn’t give your baby. Now, stay more poached the food until it’s just softened. And then use a blender or food strainer to mash it finely. This is to make it easy for your child to swallow because your baby weren’t having a mouthful of teeth yet. You put the puree in ice cube trays. Put the tray in a plastic bag to stop it drying out and freeze. Once your puree has frozen, pop it out of the tray and use the portions when you need them. And also be sure to label and date the bag. You can even create bags with a variety of frozen cubes in them. So you only have to take out one bag to prepare a meal. See, it’s easy to have tasty and nutritious baby food whenever you need it.
