How to Make Hot Chocolate for Adults Do you remember when you were a kid and one of the nicest things was coming home in the winter time to a hot steaming mug of hot chocolate? Well today we’re going to do that recipe with a bit of an adult twist. This won't be your mom’s recipe but we’ll get to the adult part a little bit later. What we need for this recipe is two cups of milk. If you wanted to taste rich and creamy, choose an organic whole milk. But if you're interested in saving on fat and calories, you can even choose 1% or skim milk. You’ll need 100 grams or three quarters of a cup of a very high-quality dark chocolate. If you want your recipe to be a little spicier, choose cinnamon sticks or even ground nutmeg. We’ll put some whipping cream on the top as well. Okay, let’s get down to business. We’ve had our milk on a medium heat for a couple of minutes until it's nice and steamy. If you haven’t already eaten most of it, now would be the time to pour in your chocolate bits. I've got to say here that you can keep this recipe very virtuous by using chocolate that’s 70% coco mass or more because then you have a lot of antioxidants in there and it makes it so healthy for you. Once again, if you want it to be spicy, this would be a good time to add your cinnamon sticks. I think the chocolate is beautifully melted in there right now. Okay, let’s pour it into the cups. Look at all that delicious chocolate. What will spice it up beautifully are a few little sprinkles of nutmeg. Now here is where the adult part comes in. Now because we used a mint chocolate, we’re going to mix it up even more by adding a mint liqueur. See, you add about an ounce at this point. You can actually use just about any liqueur you want. You could use curaçao, cognac. So now it's time to just top that with a whipping cream. I think what will make this even look nicer is to put a few more sprinkles of nutmeg on the top. Something that will decorate that drink up too is you can grate a little bit more of the chocolate unto the top of the whipping cream. It makes it look nice and of course it's going to taste that much better. Olala!
