Food/Vegetarian Are you looking for a high fiber, and a high protein alternative to meat? Well I’ve got a great recipe I’m going to share with you for a meatless burger. I’m going to start with one pound of cooked lentils. To do this mixture I’m going to add some sautéed carrots, onions, garlic, a little bit of celery salt and a little bit of regular salt. Lentils have such a great taste and such a wonderful texture, and the then this recipe they come together so well with all the other ingredients. I’m going to start adding a half a cup of bread crumbs and this is going to serve as my binder. And then I’m going to add two tablespoon of cornstarch, and that’s going to help also bring this whole together. So as a binder we have the bread crumbs and the cornstarch, without those it won’t have the same consistency that I’m looking for. Now I’m going to add about a tablespoon Worchester sauces. The Worchester adds a little bit of salty and rich flavor to the mixture. And this mix is not only great for burgers, but its excellent in tacos to wonderful for meat balls, and when I make tacos I’ll add a little bit of tacos seasoning to the mix. I’m going to add a little bit a water to bring it all together and I’m just going to add a little bit and I can always add more. And this is the consistency I’m looking for. See how at all comes together really nicely and almost has the same consistency of a ground meat. I’m going to start forming my burger patties. First I’m going to get my buns dry and now I’m going to grab a handful to make the perfect sized patty. Start rolling around my hands, you see how nicely that forms it all comes together. I’m going to cook this up in a frying pan with a little oil just like I would in other burger. Okay, I’m going to cook this over medium high heat, and because there’s little fat in my burger. I’m going to add olive oil to the pan. Now you’re going to cook this for about five minutes on both sides until it’s nice and crispy and heated all the way through. All right, I’ll give this a flip. Look at how nice and crispy that is on that side, and cook it for about five minutes on the other side until its cook to all the way through, nice, and crunchy. I’m going to turn to heat up and go make my burger. First I’m going to put down some lettuce on my whole wheat burger bun, and put down my patty. This is looking delicious, now these are all the things I like on a burger but of course you can put whatever you want. Tomato and some red onion, all right this is high and fiber full of protein, and most of all rich in flavor.
