How to Identify Autism The symptoms of autism are very variable and can be quite different even in identical twins with the disorder. Of course they have to have the core features of language dysfunction, social dysfunction, and restrictive repetitive behaviors. But on top of that there can be a wide variety of symptoms. Early on, there maybe a failure to follow gaze when you point to something of interest, a language delay, a difficulty on speaking and putting sentences together. Not responding to normal social cues and engaging a normal social interactions or pre occupations with very-very focused things like lining up all the objects over and over again for hours or playing with marbles for hours on end.
